OUR TEAM
Alison Hyde - President
Alison has dedicated her professional and personal life to education and making a difference in the lives of children here and in Africa. She first travelled to Africa as a newlywed and became passionate about the people she met. Alison with her husband Arthur made the decision to move to Africa with their daughter and become teachers in Zambia. They founded Crossroads Springs Africa with Helen and Meshack Isiaho, (see CSA history). Alison served on NY State public school boards of education. Her goal is to be a lifetime learner about people and cultures in order to serve others and participate in bringing peace and justice to humanity.
Tay Tahk - Secretary
Tay has been involved with Crossroads Springs Africa from its beginning in 2004. As a long time middle school Science teacher, recently retired, she has seen the impact of education on students and believes every student deserves a full education. Tay believes that worldwide access to education will make the next generation the most global, the most environmentally concerned yet, the generation that can and will change the world.
John McFadden - Treasurer
John joined our team in May 2020 and brings his experience with
Not-For-Profit accounting from years as a church treasurer and more recently
as the current treasurer for Friends of Kakamega. John will be moving our
financial systems towards paralleling those used by Friends of Kakamega so
that the consolidation of the two organizations will be able to proceed in a
more fluid manner. John is also interested in helping us improve our donor
management systems and will be helping us move to using Salesforce to keep
track of everyone.
Betsy Wallace
Betsy joined the CSA Board in June 2020 after having been a Board Associate since 2014. Her background has been in art. She owns a graphic and web design company in East Aurora. Betsy created and maintains the CSA website, creates printed and electronic newsletters, lawn signs, posters, brochures invitations and lately electronic interactive media for CSA. She has sponsored students in Kenya and will now be sponsoring a family in step with the new focus of CSA and FOK. She enjoys the camaraderie of the people on the CSA board.
Mary Klaus
Mary joined the CSA Board in 2016 after being a Board Associate since 2009. She is on the donor relations and sponsorship committees. Mary is retired from a 30 year career as a special education teacher. In 2009 she was asked by Alison, the CSA President, to " write a few thank you letters" to CSA donors. That is now thousands of letters ago. She has been given the title of Chief Gratitude Officer. Maryโs goal is to keep the attitude of gratitude growing and to work with the community of donors and volunteers whose aim it is to provide education for the young adults in the Hamisi and Kakamega area of Kenya.
