"Off to the Races" Kentucky Derby Party 2018

On May 5, 2018, Crossroads Springs Africa, Inc. hosted the organization’s fourth annual Kentucky Derby Party on the day the 144th “Run for the Roses” took place at Churchill Downs. CSA’s “Off to the Races” Kentucky Derby Gala took place at the Main House in Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora, NY from 4:30 until 9:00pm.  Food was catered by the Roycroft Inn, the Kentucky Derby was broadcast live on big screen TV’s while guests enjoyed mint-juleps, an open wine and beer bar, live music from Doug Yeomans and his blue grass band, raffles and a silent auction. This year there was also a Live Auction featuring donated items including  a week at a Cape Cod house, a painting by a well-known local artist, and a performance by Doug Yeomans’ Band. There was the usual “Women’s Best Hat Contest” and this year, for the first time,  a “Men’s Best Hat Award” as well.

All proceeds benefit the Crossroads Springs Africa sponsored secondary students in Kenya. CSA President Alison Hyde, an East Aurora resident who is a co-founder of the organization, is grateful to be connected with the ever-widening circles of caring people who have joined together for the Kenyan students. Thank you to all those who joined in the festivities on May 5th and helped us celebrate the success of Crossroads Springs Africa’s amazing mission in Kenya.   Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped make this possible!
